56. Tanya Huff - Blood Lines

Once again, PI and ex-cop Vicki Nelson teams up with her vampire friend, Henry Fitzroy (who happens to be the 450-year old bastard son of Henry VIII) to fight a supernatural threat in Toronto. This time it's a mummy who was locked in a sarcophagus centuries ago with the intent of never being released. However, the ownership of the sarcophagus changed hands and is now in possession of the Egyptology Department of the Royal Ontario Museum. Thinking that this was a major find, the scholars break open the seals and the spells that bound the mummy inside. Little did they know that they were releasing an evil that would hunt the city creating a powerbase to build for its god and search for souls to feed on. With two deaths taking place in the museum in as little days, detective Mike Celluci brings in Vicki and Henry to help in the investigation since these deaths looked more like murders than innocent heart attacks.

Out of the three books I've read so far involving Vicki and Henry, this would have to be the best of them. Rarely does a book keep me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to happen next and will the protagonists succeed in defeating the evil. Huff did a fantasic job with this book and I highly recommend it.
