Books 1-10
I know, I know! I just wasn't in the mood to update my blog and I doubt I would get adequately caught up with all the books I've read since the start of the year. You would think it wouldn't be that many, but you have to realize that I was very sick over the four week winter break I had between semesters. Since I wasn't up to doing much of anything, I escaped into the pages of numerous books. So here is a summation:
1. Mercedes Lackey - Oathbreakers, Book II: Vows and Honor
2. JK Rowling - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
3. Sandra Brown - The Crush
4. Jonathan Kellerman - Dr. Death
5. Lydia Adamson - A Cat With No Clue
6. Nancy Fisher - Code Blue
7. Nancy Fisher - Code Red
8. Diane Duane - So You Want To Be A Wizard
9. Mary Janice Davidson - Derik's Bane
10. Suzanna Clarke - Jonathan Strange & M. Norrell
Most of these books were really good and a few very easy reads. For example, the Nancy Fisher books, which are medical suspense stories, were a pleasant surprise with complex characters and good plots.
The only one I was disappointed with was the Suzanna Clarke book. It has a great premise (the story of two 19th century magicians) and was on the bestseller list for quite a few weeks. However, it is written in 19th century style prose which made me feel like I was in high school English class again, and honestly the story just seemed forced. It also took a lot of time and energy to read.
