46. Patricia Cornwell - Blow Fly

Kay Scarpetta is now living in southern Florida and working as a consultant after she was fired from her job as chief medical examiner for Virginia. She is asked by the coronor of some small Louisiana parish to help with an eight year old cold case that may involve the infamous Chardonne family she has been dealing with for some time. This story actually focuses much more on two characters other than Kay: Lucy (Kay's neice and her involvement in wiping out the Chardonne family), and Jean-Baptiste Chardonne (the Loup-Garou Kay came face to face with in The Black Notice from his cell on Texas' Death Row).

I was happy to see another Kay Scarpetta book by Cornwall since I personally think this is one of the best developed characters I have ever read. It was a really good book up until the last 40 pages or so. The ending seemed very rushed, almost like her publisher was breathing down her neck to get the book finished. I'll still recommend the book but I will warn that the ending left much to be desired. I hate reading a really good book only to have a crappy ending.
